VISION · GOLDEN AGE

Welcome to the Golden Age

The Golden Age is not a metaphor for better times ahead. It is a description of right now.

The Golden Age is not a metaphor for better times ahead. It is a description of right now.

We are living in the most resourced, most connected, most capable moment in all of human history. The tools available to any individual today — access to all human knowledge, global communication, computational leverage, capital markets, distribution at zero marginal cost — represent an accumulation of civilisational progress that previous generations could not have imagined.

Most people are not experiencing this as a golden age. They are experiencing it as anxiety, overwhelm, uncertainty and comparison. The same connectivity that makes the Golden Age possible is also the mechanism that delivers a continuous feed of crisis, conflict and inadequacy. The age is golden. The experience of it is often not.

I started writing because I wanted to address the gap between what is available and what most people are experiencing. Not with optimism that ignores real problems — there are real problems — but with a clear-eyed account of what is possible for anyone willing to engage with the tools available to them.

This is particularly urgent for young people. The generation entering adulthood right now has access to unprecedented leverage and is also facing unprecedented noise, comparison and a deficit of practical guidance about how to actually use what they have. The education system has not caught up with the world. Most mentorship is not available at scale. The frameworks that produce results — for thinking, for execution, for investing — are not widely taught.

That is what this is for. If you are young and directionless, if you are ambitious and uncertain about where to point it, if you have failed at something and are not sure what comes next — this is written for you. Not as inspiration, which is temporary, but as tools, which are permanent. Take what is useful. Build something with it.

The Golden Age is not waiting for you on the other side of your problems. It is available to you now, from wherever you are. The question is whether you are going to use it.
